My Story

A journey from chasing smaller to building stronger.

The beliefs behind Stronger Today didn't come from a textbook. They came from my own journey and by changing the way I defined success.

I believed the same things

For as long as I can remember, exercise meant one thing: cardio.

From my early twenties, I was a recreational runner. I entered races, trained for events and always felt my best when I was working towards the next challenge.

Like so many women, I believed exercise was just about burning calories, staying fit, and managing my weight.

That success meant becoming fast and slim.

I wasn't unusual.

I was following the messages I'd been surrounded by for years.

And at the time, I had no reason to question them.

Then in 2019 I discovered triathlon.

Chasing performance

Triathlon gave me a new challenge.

I loved the structure, the discipline and the sense of purpose that came with training. Before long, I was competing, qualifying for the Team GB Age Group Team in both Sprint and Middle Distance Triathlon, and achieving things I'd never imagined possible.

But alongside the excitement came an even greater and relentless focus on numbers.

Pace.

Power.

Weight.

Everything was measured, analysed and optimised. Success became about improving my watts per kilogram, getting leaner and finding every possible performance advantage.

I achieved more than I ever thought I could.

But looking back, I can see I was still chasing the wrong goal.

A different kind of strength

After several years of pushing my body to perform, I found myself at a crossroads.

I was burnt out.

Then an injury meant I could no longer run.

Around the same time, I was made redundant.

It felt like everything I'd built my identity around had suddenly changed.

Then a brand new focus helped me see exactly what I needed.

For the first time, I stopped chasing smaller.

I started strength training with my best friend, simply because I enjoyed it. In fact, I found I loved it.

There was no pressure to burn calories or improve my pace.

Instead, I discovered something I'd never experienced before.

I loved seeing what my body could do, not just what it looked like.

And that changed everything.

Why Stronger Today exists

Strength training made me realise I could, and should, be proud of my body for what it can do.

It changed the way I measure myself.

I don't believe women should spend their lives chasing society's definition of success. I believe they deserve to discover their own.

Somewhere along the way, I realised I'd spent years measuring myself with someone else's ruler.

Do I still care how I look? Absolutely.

And that's okay.

Wanting to feel comfortable and confident in your own skin isn't superficial—it's human.

But my definition of success is broader now. It's bigger than appearance alone.

That's why I didn't just qualify as a coach. I retrained completely and changed careers.

Being made redundant gave me the opportunity to ask myself what I wanted my work to stand for.

The answer was surprisingly clear.

I wanted to help other women experience the same awakening I'd experienced myself.

So I left the corporate world behind and built Stronger Today - a community where women feel known, supported and encouraged to build lasting strength—from a place of appreciation, not criticism.

The name Stronger Today reflects everything I believe.

Stronger isn't just about lifting heavier weights. It's about having the strength to define the life you want and deserve—and the courage to build it, today and for years to come.

Today is a reminder of something life taught me: never to take today for granted.

We can't change yesterday.

None of us know what tomorrow will bring.

But we do have today.

Today is where we begin.

Today is where we choose ourselves.

Don't measure yourself with someone else's ruler.

The strongest version of your future starts today.

Ready to start your own story?

You don't need to have it all figured out.

You just need to start.
